Spa complex
History of this complex dates back to 1838, when first bathing house was built. World War I had done some damage and after that complex was rebuilt. Also, an impressive hotel was built near by. In soviet times, Kemeri was a really popular spa with people coming here from all over the union.
After fall of soviet union decay started to take over Kemeri. Nowadays none of almost ten once functioning spas have continued to work.
Later, this complex was bought by a foreign company and there big plans for it. They built a new heating system, renovated part of this complex and also almost finished renovation of the hotel building, which is a known landmark of Kemeri. Then in 2011, company, who bought everything disappeared. They also had not paid the wages for construction workers.
Complex itself was involved if few fire incidents, last one was in August, 2013. Now the complex and hotel is taken over by Jurmala city council, and they are trying to sell everything in a auction.
